The four criteria the real raters use
CELPIP writing and speaking are rated on four criteria, which inform the overall test level. Our practice system estimates a level for each criterion and quotes the sentence behind each judgement.
Content & coherence
Are your ideas relevant, developed and in a logical order, one idea per paragraph?
Vocabulary
Is your word choice precise and varied enough for the level you want?
Readability · Listenability
Grammar, sentence variety and linking — and for speaking, pace, pauses and how easy you are to follow.
Task fulfillment
Did you do every part of the task, in the right tone for the person you are writing or speaking to?
How we check our own scores
Our rubric is tuned on one set of public sample answers and then tested on a separate set it never saw. We will publish the error for each level band, how often an 8 is mistaken for a 9, and how many samples sit behind each number. Until those numbers are published, every score here is labelled an estimate.

Is this the official CELPIP test?
No. CELPIP Study is an independent practice site. It is not affiliated with Paragon Testing Enterprises or Prometric. Our scores are practice estimates, not official results.
Are these real exam questions?
No. Every question is written from scratch in the official task formats. We never collect or rewrite questions that test takers remember from the real test.
Do I need an account?
Not to practise. You can write or record without signing up. We ask you to sign in with Google or an email code only when you want an AI score, so your reports are saved to you.
What is free?
One full speaking diagnostic (all 8 tasks), one writing diagnostic (both tasks) and one redo of a task after you see your report. Sample answers and planning guides are always free.
How accurate is the score?
It is an estimate. We test our scoring against sample answers it was never tuned on and will publish the error by level band. Treat a single score as a range, and look at the trend across attempts.
Will I be charged again automatically?
No. Every pass is a one-time payment that simply ends. Refund terms are written next to the prices.
Can I practise speaking on my phone?
Yes. Recording works in current Chrome, Safari and Edge on phones and computers. A headset gives the cleanest recording.
