What CELPIP Study offers, and what to verify elsewhere

Four-criteria estimates with quoted sentences: feedback connects the estimate to your response, so you can inspect the reasoning.
A fix-it loop: report → most useful correction → focused drill → redo → unfamiliar task → study plan.
Listening and reading level estimates: derived from the test provider's published correct-answer chart, including its overlapping ranges.
Published error: measured results with sample sizes, dates and the distinction between calibration and validation.

These describe our offering, not a claim that other providers lack the same features. Our research records detailed quoted feedback at CELTESTPIP and a correction-focused diagnostic at CELPass. We do not have comparative learner outcomes or matched accuracy tests.

Measured error and its limits

In our October 2026 leave-one-recording-out cross-validation on speaking audio, 75% were within ±1 level; mean absolute error was 1.07 levels. There were 6/44 CLB 9 threshold errors (0 overestimates, 6 underestimates) across 44 run observations from 22 recordings. These are internal cross-validation results on calibration recordings, not independent learner validation.

What these measurements do not establish

Audio cross-validation reused recordings whose transcripts had been used for calibration. It does not establish accuracy on new learners, home microphones or every speaking task.
Some high-level description responses were underestimated by 2–3 levels. Zero threshold overestimates in this small analysis does not mean future overestimates are impossible.
Transcript-only checks do not assess pronunciation. When speech assessment is unavailable, confidence is lower and the audio-derived threshold rule cannot apply.
We have no measured study-hours-to-score-gain outcome data.

Dear Mr. Caron,

The Thursday appointment offered after Friday's storm cancellation will unfortunately be too late for me. I need to drive 80 km for a volunteer delivery on Wednesday, so I am asking whether my winter tire installation could be completed beforehand.

The car is shared with another volunteer, whose plans also depend on its availability that week. Consequently, a delayed installation affects both of us, rather than just one appointment.
